Hola Salseros,
Kerry and I have recently returned from spending the summer in a hurricane hit, salsa driven Cuba. Havana escaped the worst of the damage although the southern part of the island was badly hit. One of our dancers summed up the feeling quite simply when he told us - “we may not have hot water every day, or as much food as we want, but the one thing Cuban people have that is never taken away is music. When we listen to the music and dance, we forget our troubles because we throw all our energy into our dance. We do this because you have taken the trouble to come to our country to learn our ways and our dance and we will always give you more than 100% back”. It was a stunning thing to say just a few days after Hurricane Ike.
Our groups in August and September made the most of their time in Cuba and the website will be updated with new photos and video clips as soon as I’m able to go through them all. On the upside, Kerry has discovered a new location for our 2009 holidays and we have a packed itinerary for the Valentines trip in February. Places for the New Year trip are limited and the holiday closes at the end of this month, so it’s not too late to join us if you would like to spend New Year’s Eve partying in the heart of Havana and New Year’s Day partying on the beach!
Kerry will also be holding a series of workshops in the next few months as well as touring the UK, so check out the website for more details.
So, please check out the website for the new itinerary and join Kerry on one of the roadshows, including the Cuban Salsa Congress in Wales.
Hasta luego for now.
